- This is a new energy power flow control system that will optimize transmission in Chile’s National System.
- This project responds to one of the axes of ISA’s energy transition roadmap, which prioritizes the optimization of the existing energy infrastructure.
- ISA already has experience in this type of projects in Peru and Colombia.
The National Electric Coordinator of Chile opened the economic bids for the bidding of several works included in the expansion plan of the country’s national transmission system. In the session, ISA won the New Las Palmas – Centella 220 kV flow control system project, which consists of the design, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the associated works.
The project, located in the Coquimbo region, will redistribute the power flows transmitted through the Las Palmas-Los Vilos and Punta Sierra Centella lines in operation, which, among other benefits, provides stability to the system. This is the first project with this technological solution that ISA is developing in Chile; however, in Peru and Colombia the company is already developing this solution that contributes to the reliability and availability of transmission systems.
“From ISA we are implementing solutions with a high component of innovation, for the optimization of systems, a key aspect to achieve the acceleration of the energy transition in each country where we have operations,” said Jorge Andrés Carrillo, CEO of ISA.
