  • The project includes the construction and operation of the Pasacaballos (220 kV) substation and associated lines, which will increase the transmission capacity of the National Interconnected System and allow the entry of clean energy into the system.

ISA won, in a public tender by the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME), the project for the construction of the new Pasacaballos 220 kV substation in the department of Bolivar, near Cartagena. This project will significantly increase the transportation capacity of the National Interconnected System (SIN), ensuring reliability, security of supply and resilience of the system in the face of increased energy demand. The substation will also enable the connection of future renewable energy projects, thus promoting the use of sustainable generation sources in the region and contributing to the acceleration of the energy transition.

The awarded project includes the design, procurement of supplies, construction, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the new substation and about 20 km of lines connecting it to the existing Bolivar – Toluviejo 220 kV line (now Bolivar – Pasacaballos – Toluviejo 220 kV).

“This project, in addition to being key to the electricity system, will be of great relevance in meeting the industrial demand of the area of influence. This contributes significantly to the development and progress of the Caribbean Coast,” stated Gabriel Melguizo Posada, ISA’s CEO.
