- The rural electrification initiative benefits families from 12 villages in Bosconia, Cesar, located in areas most affected by armed conflict.

ISA is helping transform the lives of 92 families from 12 rural villages in Bosconia, Cesar, which now have access to electricity thanks to a rural electrification project managed by ISA ENERGÍA in Colombia and implemented through the Works for Taxes mechanism. The initiative represented an investment of more than COP 4 billion and benefits communities located in Areas Most Affected by Armed Conflict (ZOMAC).
The benefits are already visible in the daily lives of the families involved. “Before, we had to use lamps to do our homework, go outside to play, and spend time in the yard. When the solar panels arrived, everything changed. Now I can play and do my homework in my room,” said Noreidy Vanesa Padilla, a resident of La Pavas village.
The project involved community leaders, the Bosconia Mayor’s Office, Asocomunal, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, SunColombia as the construction company, and Proinges as the project supervisor.
The installed photovoltaic solar systems provide families with clean energy to power a refrigerator, television, radio, fan, four lighting points, and four electrical outlets for different household uses. This configuration meets the average needs of a rural home in this area of Cesar, improving quality of life and facilitating daily activities such as studying, food preservation, and access to information.
Each solution consists of two solar panels, a battery, inverter, controller, and internal wiring, with the capacity to generate more than 100 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. In addition, this technology takes advantage of the natural conditions of Cesar, one of the regions with the greatest solar radiation potential in Colombia, enabling clean and sustainable energy generation for remote rural communities.
“Works for Taxes demonstrates how collaboration between the public sector, private sector, and communities can deliver tangible results for the country’s development. At ISA, we see this mechanism as an opportunity to help close gaps and accelerate solutions that positively impact people’s lives. This project in Bosconia reflects our commitment to connecting territories and generating well-being through infrastructure that transforms lives,” said María Adelaida Correa, ISA’s Corporate Sustainability Director.
Since 2021, ISA and its companies have completed eight Works for Taxes projects with investments close to COP 41 billion, benefiting more than 58,000 people across different regions of Colombia. Through initiatives like this, the company reaffirms its commitment to connecting territories and transforming lives, recognizing energy as a driver of well-being and opportunities for communities.
